Meet The Staff

Paula Broutman, President

After a long career as a Catering Director in Chicago, Paula joined the family business in 2010. She started out helping the company with Sales & Marketing and in 2011 transitioned into the role of President of Performance Plus. In addition to her responsibilities at the company, Paula is very active in the Crossroads, Lakeshore & Michigan City Chambers of Commerce. She is also very active in the Entrepreneur & Family Business Council (EFBC) as well as the Building Service Contractors Association (BSCAI). Paula is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington. Paula has been married to her husband, Jay for over 15 years and they have three children.


Michelle Kornelik, Controller

Michelle joined Performance Plus in September 2023. She has a long accounting career in the construction industry for Northwest Indiana. She is hands on working with every department either problem solving or efficiently managing the business operation. She is a proud Purdue alumnus and enjoys improving her golf game. She achieved her first “Hole in One” in 2018.


Jason Kendera, Director of Operations

Jason joined Performance Plus in 2017 as Account Manager and has proven to be a valuable team member. In January 2019, Jason was promoted to Operations Manager. Jason was promoted to Director of Operations in 2024. Jason and his lovely wife Ashley live with their son in Crown Point.


Andrew Stearns, Director of IT

Andrew started with Performance Plus in 2014 as a Payroll Specialist. Throughout the years, he has advanced through the company and become a vital part of our team. Andrew was promoted to Director of IT in 2024. He spends his free time working with computers and technology, playing board games with friends and spending time with his family. He has a passion for learning new things, craft beers and international cuisine. Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and sons.


Amanda Baker, Director of Human Resources

Amanda joined Performance Plus in 2018 comes to us with over 4 years of HR and 10 years of management and customer service experience and a passion for helping others. After receiving her SHRM Certification in 2023, Amanda was promoted to Director of HR in 2024. Amanda has two children who participate in competitive roller skating. Amanda also enjoys playing adult co-ed softball, which she has been involved with for over 15 years.


Carly Degard, Accounts Receivable/Payroll Clerk

Carly joined Performance Plus in 2019 as a filing clerk and was recently promoted to Accounts Receivable Representative. Carly graduated from St. Mary College in 2019 with a degree in Psychology.


Frank Wieczorek, Director of Business Development

Frank has been in the commercial cleaning industry for over 40 years. He started as a cleaning/floor person and worked his way up through the ranks. He graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Business with a major in Marketing. His hobbies include reading, running, and camping, among others. Frank lives in South Bend with his lovely wife Dawn and enjoys spending time with his grandson.


Betty Hannon, Operations Manager – Indianapolis, IN

Betty has been a part of the Performance Plus team, on and off, for over 25 years. Betty brings over 45 years of experience to the Indianapolis office. She wears many hats including administrator, supervisor and cleaner. Betty is a huge asset to our Indianapolis office. Betty has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.


Sharolyn Battle, Operations Manager – Northwest Indiana

Sharolyn has been an asset to our company for over 16 years. In 2010 Sharolyn was promoted to Operations Manager of the Gary branch. With over 40 years of experience in the service industry, Sharolyn brings a wealth of knowledge to the job sites every day. She also used to volunteer at her grandmothers nursing home and her church. She is the mother of four children.


Mike Breitzka, Operations Manager - Michigan City, IN

Mike became part of the Performance Plus team in 2021 with over 30 years of management experience with 20 in the janitorial field. When it comes to work, Mike has no problem getting his hands dirty. He has been married to his wife Kelly for over 30 years. They have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Mike enjoys spending time with his family and friends, working around the house and yard and watching NASCAR.


TJ Knapp, Operations Manager - South Bend

At the age of 17 TJ started his own window washing company and Knapp's Window Cleaning, which he successfully ran for over 10 years. In 2020 TJ joined Performance Plus and have worked in multiple positions starting as a supervisor for the South Bend location back in January of 2021. Since then, he has taken on various tasks as a floor tech, a window cleaner and on specials which involved Covid cleans, deep cleans, and construction clean ups. In 2023 TJ was promoted to Operations Manager and has proven to be a great asset to Performance Plus. In his free time TJ likes to spend time outdoors and play music with his band.


David Berk, Sales Representative - Northwest Indiana

David recently joined the Performance Plus team after gaining 15 years experience as a small business owner in product development. He assisted companies and inventors in developing and producing new product ideas.  David graduated from Southern Illinois University with a BA in Industrial Design. David has been married to his beautiful wife Debbie for over 15 years and has 2 adorable daughters. David is an avid skier and is at peace when he is in the mountains.


Alena Perez, Accounts Payable Clerk

Alena is the Accounts Payable Clerk who brings not only commitment and precision to numbers but also a love for family, camping, music, and fishing. She lives in Schererville and enjoys a fulfilling life with her loving husband and son, finding balance between her professional and personal life.

Mary Farris, Customer Service Representative/AR Clerk

Mary joined Performance Plus in 2018. She graduated from Butler University in 2001 with an Education degree. She taught high school Latin and English for 15 years. Mary serves an integral role as our Customer Service Representative as well as a member of our Administrative team working on AP & Collections. You’ll find her answering the main phone line most days as well as handling most of the supply orders and ticket billing. She enjoys Middle Eastern dance, Renaissance fairs, and feline companionship.

Jeremy Patti, Operations Manager - South Bend International Airport

Jeremy started in the Janitorial industry with his father at the age of 17. They had their own business for 8 years cleaning offices and doctor's offices.

At that time, they both worked in the healthcare industry for housekeeping. Jeremy spent 18 years in the healthcare industry, 10 of them in management before joining Performance Plus in October of 2023. Jeremy has been Married for 15 years to his wife and they have a son and daughter. Jeremy loves bowling in the Winter on 3 different leagues and fishing in the Summer.
