History
Performance Plus is a family-owned company with roots dating back to 1917. Today, we serve a wide range of office buildings, health facilities and industrial facilities. We are dedicated to our customers and are always striving to improve and expand our services.
Owner, Michael Saks, took over his family-owned business called Gary Window Cleaning more than 40 years ago. It was a thriving business that provided window cleaning to local store fronts. Michael then expanded the business to include cleaning services and opened a new office in Gary, Ind.
Michael ’s brother, Alan, joined the company early in the 1970s to run the operations of the cleaning division. This was the beginning of a partnership that still exists today. Over the years, Michael and Alan have acquired several businesses, which include our South Bend branch, formerly known as Acme Janitorial, and our Michigan City branch, formerly known as Building Maintenance. In 2002 Michael decided to consolidate all of his former businesses under The Performance Companies, Inc. To extend the family tradition, Michael's daughter, Paula Saks-Broutman, joined the company in 2010 as an integral part of the sales and marketing team.
In January 2011, Paula became president, hoping to follow in her father's footsteps by leading the company into our second century.
